Just finished these owl screen prints! 10”x20”, 3 colors on white stock (pink or orange, dark blue and the owl is a white overprint on top of the background textures.) These will be available at my table this weekend at the Small Press Book Fair, and after that I’ll have them in my webstore.
I just missed the era when Letraset transfer lettering was a necessity. All of my experience with fonts has been on the computer, and I consider myself pretty fortunate that I’m spoiled by the ease of changing and editing type in design programs.
Still, I’ll always have a massive amount of respect for all the old school designers that had to painstakingly letter their work by hand, it’s a lost artform that required incredible patience and skill.
I actually bought a big pile of Letraset sheets when the local art store had few boxes of it in the clearance section. Perhaps I’m so fascinated with this stuff because I’ve never had to use it…so instead I have fun filling in the backgrounds of my silly owl paintings.
