Here’s a poster I made for a show my band will be participating in this Friday. I wasn’t sure what to draw, so I went with a flaming robotic owl. Somehow it just felt right.

Pretty sure I’m naming this big fellow “Lugbud.” (16x20, acrylic on canvas)

A 16x20 version of the little Batbot I painted recently, quoting an underappreciated modern classic.

I have been reading a lot of old Batman comics lately, which resulted in this quick 5x7 acrylic Batbot on masonite. I’m pretty happy with the little guy, so I’ll probably work on a larger/more detailed version soon.

A custom painted, glow in the dark Gameboy and cartridge that I made as a gift for my best man. He collects handhelds, so I wanted to give him something he didn’t already have, something a little different.

I had originally planned on making a few more of these, but this one took way longer than I had expected, so for now this will remain one of a kind. (Also, I thought it was interesting that the owl glows orange…I mixed a glow base with normal acrylics, and it looks like the color of the paint can change the glow. Neat…)

I just missed the era when Letraset transfer lettering was a necessity. All of my experience with fonts has been on the computer, and I consider myself pretty fortunate that I’m spoiled by the ease of changing and editing type in design programs.
Still, I’ll always have a massive amount of respect for all the old school designers that had to painstakingly letter their work by hand, it’s a lost artform that required incredible patience and skill.
I actually bought a big pile of Letraset sheets when the local art store had few boxes of it in the clearance section. Perhaps I’m so fascinated with this stuff because I’ve never had to use it…so instead I have fun filling in the backgrounds of my silly owl paintings.

A few mini glow bots I made to use up extra paint on my palette while waiting for other work to dry.  4x3 GID acrylic on masonite.
